Secretary - Toni Flaspeter, RN, MSN

I've been an active member in ONS/NCC for ~2.5 years. Currently, I am the Clinical Informatics Specialist for the Washington Cancer Institute at Medstar Washington Hospital Center. I started my nursing career working as a heme/onc nurse inpatient at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. I left that position to work in the cardiac ICU at MWHC. From there, I transferred to an outpatient breast cancer nurse navigator role, which I worked in for the last 2.5 years until I transitioned into the informatics role. Total, I've had ~4.5 years as an oncology nurse in various roles inpatient and outpatient. I've been a board member for our local chapter and am looking forward to contributing more to the organization! I would love to see our chapter grow more through recruitment.

President-Elect - Randa Aladdin, RN, BSN

Presently, I work as an oncology research nurse at Holy Cross Hospital in both the Silver Spring and Germantown locations. Initially, my position was mostly supportive with regards to the clinical trials conducted at these facilities. However, over the past year I have become an integral member of the team assessing and enrolling qualified participants into the OBGYN, lung, and brain cancer studies conducted in partnership with organizations like NIH, pharmaceutical sponsors/CROs, and physician/hospital-initiated awards. Other duties include managing three (3) EMR databases, regulatory binders and patient files both electronic and hardcopy, various electronic data capture systems like Medidata Rave, and working closely with hospital and local physicians to ensure both the safety and efficacy of enrolled patients.

Nursing is a second career but in the past although I earned other degrees in biology and psychology I have always worked and volunteered within the medical field. My extensive knowledge, skills, and abilities encumber 25 years making me an excellent candidate for President-Elect as my scientific background and experience in numerous organizations is unique in working cooperatively with others and independent that only enhances my future contributions to this organization. Since becoming a member of ONS I have diligently attended and actively participated in meetings, conferences, and retreats. I am willing to commit to the three-year requirement and continue to remain actively engaged in ONS to promote its fundamental mission and values.
