The Oncology Nursing Society’s book publication department adheres to a double-blind peer review process and is recruiting peer reviewers. These valuable volunteers ensure the quality and relevancy of chapters accepted for publication, as well as assist with author development. Peer reviewers must have an active nursing license. ONS membership is preferred but not required.
Peer review candidates are experienced clinical oncology nurses with current clinical oncology care knowledge; master’s degree or higher is the preferred (but not required) academic background. Peer reviewer expertise covers broad clinical oncology nursing competencies, advocacy, and influence (e.g., prevention, clinical assessment, treatment, symptom management, clinical models for patient care delivery, clinical operations, psychosocial support of patients and caregivers).
When reviewing chapters, reviewers provide constructive critiques, which evaluate content accuracy and quality, rigor in advancing the foundation of clinical oncology nursing practice, writing clarity, and applicability of content to current clinical oncology practice.
Peer reviewers are expected to complete and submit strong, professional reviews within 2 weeks of the invitation. Reviewers maintain confidentiality of all content.
