The ONS Symptom Intervention (PEP) resources provide nurses and other healthcare professionals with guidance on evidence-based management strategies. These important resources can be used to inform patient care plans, prepare nursing staff, quickly review an intervention’s efficacy evidence, and identify research gaps. ONS is looking for volunteers to help with the update of multiple Symptom Intervention (PEP) resources.
Volunteers will:
· Review current literature on the symptom of interest
· Perform critical appraisal of intervention studies, clinical practice guidelines, and systematic reviews with a second reviewer
· Assess the final body of evidence to form conclusions on intervention effectiveness and participate in consensus meetings leveraging clinical expertise
Experience Required:
· A minimum of 4 years oncology nursing experience
- Ability to meet deadlines for article reviews and appraisals
- Availability for 2-3 team meetings inclusive of orientation
- Clinical experience with symptom management for one of the following:
- Peripheral neuropathy
- Cognitive impairment
- Dyspnea
- Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
Experience Preferred:
· Application of an Evidence-Based Practice Model in clinical practice including critical appraisal
· Mentoring experience in Evidence-Based Practice
Length of Commitment:
· 6 months with the option to extend and continue maintenance review of topics for a term of up to 2 years. Approximate monthly commitment is 6-10 hours per month.
