Description:

The Biomarker Database is an online repository of key information about cancer biomarkers to support nursing practice. As a clinical decision support tool, this evidence-based database can serve as a resource to support clinical decisions and be a foundation for patient education before and after biomarker testing. You can review this tool by visiting biomarkers.ons.org.

Expectations for expert peer reviewers include independent review of biomarkers assigned to ensure content is complete, comprehensive, and up to date with the current evidence. All references should be within the last 5 years and if there are references to practice guidelines (i.e., NCCN), they will need to be reviewed and updated to the latest version. If applicable, there may be need to participate in a one-hour consensus meeting of maintenance reviewers to finalize updates based on cancer type and the associated biomarkers (~1 hour).  Depending on disease site there will be 2-3 reviews requested in 2023.
