2025 CHAPTER BOARD MEMBERS
PRESIDENT

- Serves to appoint committee chairs, coordinates development of chapter goals, objectives and the budget.
- Schedule, formulate the agenda, and preside at a minimum of four meetings of the board of directors each year.
- Mentor and prepare the president-elect or vice president (if applicable).
- Coordinates the completion, review and submission of the annual ONS report and maintains chapter records.
- A liaison between NEWONS membership and national ONS.
- Represents NEWONS at national ONS meetings.

Michelle Vanden Boogart, MSN, RN, OCN- michelle.vbluv@gmail.com
Michelle has been a nurse for over 30 years, with experience in inpatient, outpatient, research, radiation oncology, and leadership. She brings a broad perspective and a passion for continuously improving the care of oncology patients. She currently serves as Director of Oncology Operations at Ascension Northeast Wisconsin. She looks forward to increasing awareness within our local chapter on the influence nurses have within policy and legislation and taking nursing advocacy to the next level!
Duties:
- Assume the role of president in the following situations:
- Absence of the president
- Inability of the president to act
- Resignation of the president
- Expirations of her president's term
- Consults with president to provide continuity and smooth transition of chapter leadership
- Actively observe and learn the role of the president.
TREASURER

Jennifer Reilly, BA, BSN, RN- jennifer.reilly@thedacare.org
Jennifer has been a nurse for over three years, primarily working in inpatient oncology during that time. As a result of this experience, she has developed a deep respect for the patients she serves as well as a sincere commitment to the field of oncology and excellence in nursing practice. Prior to nursing, Jennifer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from UW-Madison, where she learned about other cultures and developed communication skills. After graduating, she enjoyed volunteering with immigrants and refugees. When the COVID pandemic changed everything, she saw an opportunity to have a greater positive impact by returning to school and earning a BSN. When she is not nursing or thinking about nursing, she enjoys cooking, fixing up her hobby farm with her husband, or spending time outdoors.
Duties:
- Supervise the financial transactions of the chapter and maintain all financial records associated with the
office of treasurer in compliance with the policies and procedures established by the chapter board of directors and ONS
- Provide honoraria for speakers
- Provide scholarships for education and certification and charitable support to our community
- Donate to ONS Foundation
- Keep accurate and transparent records of all financial transactions
- Develop an annual budget, based on a review of the previous year’s budget and current goals and objectives as approved
by the board of directors
- Prepare the treasurer’s report for the chapter president to sign and submit to ONS National by January 31 each year
- Prepare the treasurer’s report for presentation at each meeting of the chapter board of directors and the general chapter
membership business meeting.
MEMBER RELATIONS

Laura Santkuyl, MSN, RN, OCN- Laura.santkuyl@thedacare.org
Laura has been a nurse for 20 years, with 9 of those years being in oncology. She has had a passion for nursing since the age of 7 and loves to help others, including volunteering at a local organization handing out meals to community members. She is looking forward to becoming more involved in NEWONS to not only meet others but to help advance oncology nursing as well. In her free time, you’ll find her spending time with friends/family, skiing or being active outside.
Duties:
- Commitment: Approximately six hours per month, including one monthly meeting.
- Responsibilities:

- Promote membership development in ONS National and the chapter, strategizing to recruit and retain members.
- Submit reports on current membership status and activities at all chapter board and general membership meetings.
- Ensure proper maintenance of membership committee records as per ONS National procedures.
- Manage the chapter website and Facebook.
- Coordinate and delegate duties related to social media
PROGRAM COORDINATORS
Autumn Kilker, RN, BSN- kilk16@yahoo.com
Autumn is an experienced Registered Nurse and Medical Business Professional with over 30 years of experience. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and currently works as a Senior Hematology Consultant for Bristol Myers Squibb. Autumn brings a passion for education as well as program management experience. She is thrilled to be serving on the NEWONS board as Programs Chair and hopes that her unique skillset will benefit the ONS community with its goal of advancement of oncology nursing practice. Autumn resides in Appleton, WI with her husband, two children, and French Bulldog. She enjoys boating, snow skiing, gardening, and cooking.

Kimberly Bonneville, MSN, RN, OCN-kimberlymbonneville@gmail.com
Kim brings 17 years of oncology experience, spanning medical and radiation oncology in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Five years ago, she transition from clinical nursing to the pharmaceutical industry, starting as a nurse educator and currently serving as an oncology sales specialist. Nursing was Kim’s second career, following several years in communications/marketing before returning to school to earn her nursing degrees. She is excited to leverage her combined expertise in nursing, pharmaceuticals, and marketing in her role with NEWONS, where she will continue to support the Chapter through quality education initiatives.

Nancy Gudex, MSN, ANP-BC, AOCNP- ngudex3@gmail.com
Nancy has been a nurse for over 30 years working in a variety of areas throughout her career including inpatient oncology, home health, long term care, and a hematology/oncology clinic. She graduated from the University of WI-Oshkosh with her Adult Nurse Practitioner degree in 2003 and is certified as an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner. For the past 7 years she has been a Senior Medical Science Liaison at Bristol Meyers Squibb. She was one of the founding members of NEWONS and has previously held the position of Program Chair.

- Coordinates and delegates duties related to vendor relations and chapter programs
SECRETARY
Susan Leffel, BSN, RN, OCN- susan.leffel@thedacare.org
Susan has been an Oncology nurse for the last 22 years. During this time, she has worked in both inpatient and outpatient oncology settings. She currently works as an infusion nurse at a cancer center and is one of two oral chemotherapy nurses in their clinic. Her passion for the field was shaped by the loss of her sister to cancer at a young age, an experience that instilled in her a deep sense of empathy and purpose for her patients. She is looking forward to the collaboration, education, and advocacy that comes with the NEWONS chapter. In her free time, she enjoys camping, hiking, reading, and spending time with her husband, two children, and two dogs.
Duties:
- Keeping accurate records of Society and Board members via agenda and minutes
- Emailing completed minutes to board members after board meetings
STUDENT RELATIONS

Brenda Van Sambeek, RN, MSN, OCN- bvsrn@yahoo.com
Brenda serves as the Clinical Nurse Educator for Thedacare Regional Cancer Center in the areas of radiation and outpatient treatment. She is also an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Marian University. She has 27 years of experience as a registered nurse, and held various roles such as a clinical lead for oncology infusion, telephone triage, and serves as a peer reviewer for the National ONS OCN Nurse Certificate review class bundle. She also represented the Oncology Nursing Society on Capitol Hill in both 2022 and 2024 advocating for the needs of oncology nurses and their patients.

- Connects with colleges to increase student membership
- Advertises and promotes ONS and NEWONS
- Plan sponsored events that benefit the student body Members & carry out tasks regarding event
