To: Members of the Oncology Nursing Society
This is an invitation to participate in a DNP scholarly practice project entitled:
Implementation of a Shared Daily Care Plan, Person-Centered Care, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Principles to Improve Levels of Confidence and Satisfaction with Daily Living in Oncology Registered Nurses
This project is asking for participation from nurses that are currently members of the ONS. This project is being conducted to understand how sharing the daily plan of care with the patient, incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles, person-centered care, and self-care can improve oncology nurse levels of confidence and satisfaction with daily living.
The purpose is to share strategies to help oncology nurses, like yourself, encounter and engage patients. The theory of modeling and role-modeling concepts will be shared, which include the role of the nurse in encouraging patient self-care and self-care for themselves. These include unconditional acceptance of the patient, nurturance, and facilitation of care with the patient not for them. The basic concepts of the theory also include maintaining self-care balance of hope, control, support, satisfaction with daily living, and physical health to achieve optimal health. A narrated power point will be provided as the educational intervention with two short instruments to be given before and after.
If you choose to participate in this project, you will read and sign an informed consent form. You will view an educational session lasting about 45 minutes. You will also complete two surveys, one before the educational intervention and one after, which may take 10 minutes each. The entire process is about 80 minutes total, although some complete it faster than that. Please click this link to participate
