The Oncology Nursing Society is seeking candidates to serve as the Scholar-in-Residence (SIR) to support cancer nursing research and development of nurse scientists. This position is structured to fund the part-time effort of a nurse scientist in academia or cancer institute or a nurse scientist with emeritus status.
This role reports to the Chief Clinical Officer.
This appointment is a three-year term.
This is a compensated position.
Responsibilities include working with the nurse scientist community, providing direction on training, mentoring, and networking opportunities for nurse researchers with members and external partners, and collaborating with the Oncology Nursing Foundation (ONF) on the development of mechanisms to fund and support oncology nursing research and mentoring initiatives. Specific activities include maintaining and monitoring the research priorities, representing ONS at relevant national collaborations and meetings, collaborating with ONF to ensure funding opportunities align with the research agenda, and developing mentorship opportunities for early career researchers.
Requirements
- PhD or DNSc along with five or more years of research experience. PhD in health-related field or education, nursing preferable. RN license required.
- Strong program of research in cancer care with successful funding. Experience in conducting clinical and implementation research in healthcare. Academic affiliation preferable.
- Evidence of implementation of research into practice preferred
- Strong, demonstrable experience in simple to complex research design and use of both qualitative and quantitative research methods, familiarity with statistical programs (STATA, SPSS, SAS and Excel).
- Strong written and oral communication skills, able to communicate and influence a wide range of professionals from different organizations and backgrounds within the academic and healthcare sectors. Publication track-record in reputable academic journals.
