The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), a professional association that represents 100,000 nurses and is the professional home to more than 35,000 members, seeks a dynamic and visionary oncology nurse to serve as editor of the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing (CJON).
The mission of CJON, an official publication of ONS, is to publish clinically relevant, evidence-based content for oncology nurses in diverse roles and practice settings to use when caring for those affected by cancer. CJON publishes six times per year and is directed to the practicing nurse specializing in the care of patients with an actual or potential diagnosis of cancer.
The CJON editor works with ONS staff to ensure that the journal’s content supports the CJON mission and is appropriate and appealing to readers by accepting timely and relevant manuscripts, mentoring authors, selecting and working with associate editors and reviewers, and leading editorial board meetings and journal programs and activities.

Strong writing, editing, planning, communication, and meeting-facilitation skills

A strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat or similar PDF annotator software, and email, as well as the ability to learn and use the online submission and peer-review system (Editorial Manager)

All submissions will be reviewed, and candidates selected to advance to the interview phase will be notified during summer 2026. The editor will be selected by fall 2026, with comprehensive onboarding and training to occur prior to the candidate of choice assuming the role in its entirety on January 1, 2027.
