Description:

The Oncology Nursing Forum (Forum) is recruiting associate editors (AEs) for its editorial board. Forum AEs contribute peer-reviewed content, help recruit authors, review manuscripts, and assist with other special journal projects (e.g., themed issues, supplements) as needed. This position on the Forum Editorial Board is a volunteer role and requires active ONS membership.

Terms are two years, with the editor’s option to extend for one additional year. Forum is currently recruiting four AEs whose terms would begin January 1, 2026, and end December 31, 2027, with the possibility of extending through December 31, 2028.

Special consideration will be given to those who are nurse-scientists, who receive federal funding, who have clinical trials experience, and/or who are chief nursing officers or otherwise hold leadership roles within their institutions, but all applicants will be considered.

Forum AE responsibilities include the following:

  • Peer review manuscripts, with a maximum of 6–10 per year. Some of these manuscripts may be outside the AE’s area of expertise.
  • Assist with recruiting subject matter experts to serve as authors and/or reviewers of manuscripts.
  • Assist the editor in the formulation of journal policies and procedures by response to requests for feedback and active participation in editorial board meetings.
  • Assess and make recommendations related to journal content as requested by the editor.
  • Support the Forum mission and the ONS mission, vision, and core values.
  • Strive to promote a positive image of ONS and its publications at all times.
  • Assist the editor with manuscript recruitment.
  • Assume responsibility for other journal-related projects as assigned.
  • Uphold confidentiality of all editorial board meeting discussions with the exception of information that the editor asks board members to share with the membership (e.g., themed issues, supplements, volunteer opportunities).
  • Disclose any conflicts of interests.
