This work will require the review of current literature to provide evidence-based practice recommendations for nurses related to multiple myeloma and its treatment, provision of guidance for a member needs assessment, and the creation of original content for a series of eight learning activities and a chapter training program in collaboration with other subject matter experts.
Learning Activity Objectives:
1. Foundational knowledge and evidence-Based Practice: Oncology nurses will improve understanding of multiple myeloma, including patient presentation, diagnostic testing, treatment options, and patient supportive care.
2. Patient support and shared decision-making: Oncology nurses will demonstrate increased understanding of newly approved agents used to treat multiple myeloma, including mechanisms of action, patient criteria and selection, sequencing, administration considerations, and side effect management to help empower patients to make informed treatment decisions.
3. Care Coordination: Oncology nurses will demonstrate improved ability to educate patients about multiple myeloma, including questions about the disease, treatments, symptoms and self-care at home.
Requirements:
• Strong knowledge of multiple myeloma and treatment options.
• Ability to translate knowledge into content appropriate for an oncology nursing audience.
• Experience with peer-to-peer training and learning is preferred.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Availability for an initial telephone call with staff, then email and phone communication weekly or as needed.
The subject matter expert will have approximately 16 months to complete the work beginning in September 2020.
