Guideline Endorsement Reviewers Needed

ONS Guideline Endorsement Review Panel

The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) is seeking volunteers to serve on a Guideline Endorsement Review Panel. Panel members play a key role in evaluating external guideline endorsement applications to ensure they meet ONS standards for methodological rigor, transparency, and relevance to oncology nursing practice.

Purpose of the Panel

The Guideline Endorsement Review Panel conducts structured, independent review of guideline endorsement applications submitted to ONS. Reviews are completed using ONS endorsement criteria and the AGREE II (Appraisal of Guidelines for Research & Evaluation II) tool to support evidence-based endorsement decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Panel members will:

• Review guideline endorsement applications and supporting materials ·
• Appraise clinical practice guidelines using the AGREE II instrument
• Apply ONS endorsement criteria consistently and objectively
• Participate in virtual panel discussions to deliberate on findings
• Provide clear, written feedback and endorsement recommendations
• Adhere to confidentiality requirements and disclose/manage conflicts of interest

Time Commitment

• Participation in at least two (2) one-hour virtual panel meetings
• Independent review work totaling approximately four (4) hours
• All work is conducted virtually and scheduled to support reviewer availability

Preferred Qualifications

ONS seeks volunteers who meet the following criteria:

• Registered nurses with a minimum of four (4) years of nursing experience
• Experience serving on guideline development panels or guideline review/endorsement committees, and/or
• Experience using guideline or systematic review appraisal tools

Experience in oncology nursing, evidence-based practice, research, guideline development, or quality improvement is strongly preferred.
