The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) and the Oncology Nursing Foundation (ONF) invite volunteers to apply to serve on the ONS & ONF Nurse Scientist Advisory Panel.

The purpose of the Nurse Scientist Advisory Panel is to advise the ONS and ONF Boards and staff on topics concerning the research-related needs of the oncology nursing community and the advancement of oncology nursing science. Key areas for panel advisement include: research climate, funding policies, new knowledge generation and dissemination, nurse scientist membership engagement and retention, educational initiatives, etc. Volunteers will provide focused feedback on specific questions to advise and make recommendations for consideration by ONS and ONF.

TIME COMMITMENT:

Volunteers are expected to commit to attending 2 – 3 virtual meetings per year and actively participate in discussions. Pre-read materials and meeting objectives will be provided prior to each meeting. Estimated time commitment is a maximum of 24 hours per year. Standard term limits will be 1-2 years (2nd year upon invitation only).

Individuals do not have to hold membership to ONS to apply.

VOLUNTEER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

To be considered for selection, you must meet all the following criteria:

Nurse Scientist Advisory Panel Qualifications
  • Hold a PhD or equivalent research doctorate
  • Have experience in designing and conducting oncology nursing research

Selected participants will have the following responsibilities for the duration of their term limit:

  1. Attend and actively participate in meetings.
  2. Complete assigned pre-work, including reviewing materials, surveys, and providing feedback by deadlines.
  3. Share consultative input and experience-based insights on designated topics, staying within the panel’s scope.
  4. Respond to occasional outreach between meetings as needed.
