  • Shawnee Mission, Kansas, AHMG Oncology Medical Director AdventHealth Kansas City Overview AdventHealth Medical Group is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and charismatic full-time board-certified oncologist to serve as Program Medical Director for our health system in Kansas City. The Medical Director will lead the following areas in oncology: advancing regional reputation; developing a multi-disciplinary and integrated cancer care model with our oncologists; advancing clinical quality and a superior patient experience; and developing clinical trials with destination tumor site programs. We have a new state-of-the-art, $76 million AdventHealth Cancer Institute at Shawnee Mission that opened in 2024 and is CoC accredited. You would join a team with six board certified hem/oncs. We also have gyn oncology, radiation oncology and breast surgery programs in our Institute. Several of the qualifications include: Compelling individual with ability to lead and mentor oncology teams and foster collaboration Understanding of development for tumor site models Demonstrated experience in leadership Experience in cancer clinical trials Excellent communication and relationship-building skills Fellowship trained, board certified in hematology/oncology and be eligible for licensure in Kansas. Candidate responsibilities would be split between dedicated administrative time, leading, developing and implementing strategies and clinical work. The role youll contribute: The Cancer Registry Coordinator oversees the organization, development and implementation of the Cancer Committee, Cancer Conferences and Cancer Registry\Outcomes. Ensures that complete and accurate data is collected and maintained for all patients diagnosed with and/or treated for cancer and related reportable diseases within the institution. Follows all policies and procedures set forth by the American College of Surgeons (ACoS), Kansas Cancer Data System, and Cancer Committee as well as overseeing the ACoS accreditation process. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the coordination of the ACoS accreditation process for NAPBC and CoC, preparation of Cancer Conferences, quality control oversight- promoting and coordinating cancer related KQI and development of Clinical Outcomes Reports. The value youll bring to the team: Reviews pathology reports, outpatient radiology, radiation therapy logs and identifies cases to be entered into the suspense file according to the reportable list Enters newly diagnosed cases into the computerized suspense file with 98% accuracy. Completes the abstract assigning all codes, stages, treatment and demographic data Enters follow-up information with 98% accuracy Places cases into the Consultation and Diagnostic Index when appropriate. Works with responsible departments to identify and route path reports for newly diagnosed cases for staging form processing Consistently maintains registry in accordance with ACoS Guidelines in preparation for survey process The expertise and experiences youll need to succeed : Minimum qualifications : 3 Years of Position Related Experience Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute Medical terminology Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs Exceptional communication skill Understanding of cancer diagnosis and therapeutic services Must have knowledge of computer systems to include Windows, Excel, Access, Aria, Athena, and Cerner Requires background in Medical terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, and data collection. Ability to use machine, tools, equipment and work aids as necessary to perform job duties, i.e., set up LCD projector Preferred qualifications: LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED RHIT, RN, LPRN, RRT, RTT preferred EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: Certified Tumor Registrar eligible within six (6) months of hire date. Must get Certified Tumor Registrar credential within one (1) year of hire date. Working knowledge of ACoS accreditation guidelines and process.
