  • Minneapolis, Minnesota, Summary The Podiatry Surgery Division in Surgical Care at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System is seeking a dynamic and experienced Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) to join our excellent team of providers. The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) practices in the Podiatry Surgery Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The APN provides advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management. Duties The Minneapolis VA Health Care System (VAHCS) is a teaching hospital providing a full range of patient care services with state-of-the-art technology - as well as education and research Comprehensive health care is provided through primary care - tertiary care and long-term care in areas of medicine - surgery - psychiatry - physical medicine and rehabilitation - neurology - oncology - dentistry - geriatrics and extended care Podiatry Wound APN Responsibilities Performs physical examinations - assess - diagnose surgical - vascular neuropathic - and diabetic foot ulcers Triages and responds to complex wound consults in the outpatient and inpatient settings Obtains history and physical examinations on patients Orders and interprets diagnostic tests and consultations - and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions independently and in collaboration with attending DPM and/or MD Provides wound care services including debridement of ulcers - biologic product application and other advanced wound therapies Prescribes pharmaceuticals and therapeutic devices - (orthotics - prosthetic devices - plaster casts - immobilization devices - etc.) Provides medical treatment of dermatoses - bacterial wound infections - and other infectious wound processes Consults infectious disease and surgical specialty staff physicians as clinically indicated Participates in appropriate consultation - referral - and co-management of patients with complicated systemic conditions Works alongside and assists in Operating Room procedures - including debridement - amputation - and limb salvage surgeries Actively participates in Quality Improvement activities and Wound Service advancement Provides Health promotion - disease prevention patient education programs and services Participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care Supports and advocates for the Prevention of Amputations in Veterans Everywhere (PAVE) program Leads and/or participates in innovative wound care programs - i.e. - wound telehealth Obtains and maintains all medical staff appointments and clinical privileges as required by the hospital Abides by and complies with all codes of ethics - rules - regulations - and procedures adopted or established - from time to time - by the hospital and all applicable governmental or licensing authorities Complies with the requirements and standards of The Joint Commission and any other accrediting agencies designated as well as all applicable laws - rules - and regulations Cooperates with hospital in implementing new procedures - controls - and systems to promote and facilitate quality - cost controls - reimbursement functions - standardization of products and equipment - and any other requests made by hospital Provides effective and timely communications to referring or admitting surgeon physicians - patient and family concerning the clinical status of each cared for by the Podiatry Wound APN Follows and abides by the VHA Standards of Conduct Other duties as assigned VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary - regular salary increases - potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave - 13 days of sick leave - 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:00am - 4:30pm Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized
  • Maple Grove, Minnesota, Why UMPhysicians? The RN - Infusion performs both independent nursing and delegated medical functions. The independent nursing includes assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for assigned patient population(s) in the ambulatory care setting. The delegated medical functions include participation in and coordination of delegated patient care to other health care team members. The RN - Infusion is responsible for performing these functions and working in collaboration with providers and care team to perform these functions in accordance with all policy, procedure, and professional practice guidelines. What you will do as an RN - Infusion : Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes Implements nursing interventions based on plan of care Evaluates care and the patient's response to interventions and expected outcomes Delivers care as delegated by physician/authorized practitioner to assigned patients Performs other duties as determined by manager and clinic needs What you will need: Valid Minnesota Registered Nurse license Current national certification depending on area of specialty or the ability to obtain one within 18 months of start date or prorated for FTE appointment (if applicable for role). Maintain Oncology Nursing Society's ONS Provider Card or obtain within 30 days of start date (if applicable for role). Maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification Preferred: 2+ years of acute care nursing and/or infusion or ambulatory care nursing experience 2+ years of experience in administrating antineoplastic agents Due to differences in scope of care, practice, or service across settings, the specific experience required for this position may vary. The RN delivers care that includes but is not limited to central (as applicable) and peripheral IV initiation and management, phlebotomy and blood draws, order management, medication administration including hazardous and antineoplastic agents They will also administer blood product and cellular therapy administration, wound care, pain management, performing and assisting with procedures Monitoring response to interventions, prompt recognition and intervention of hypersensitivity reactions Preparing and delivering patient education, monitoring and taking vital signs, chart reviews, documentation, phone triage, and coordination of care.
