  • Benchley, Texas, Facility/Clinic:  Baylor Scott and White Infusion Clinic- College Station, TX Department:  Infusion Center Shift/Status:  Full Time, 40 hrs/wk Schedule:  Monday-Friday 8am-5pm The infusion nurse is responsible for performing assessments, accessing veins via IV or port access, reviewing labs, and initiating the infusion. The infusion nurse will monitor the patient during the length of the infusion and render appropriate care if needed. The infusion nurse educates patients on disease processes, treatment plans, and medication side effects. Your responsibilities will involve assessing patients, identifying nursing diagnoses for health issues, and developing personalized care plans. You will also assess patient responses regularly. Your contributions will help patients navigate healthcare safely by understanding their needs and the healthcare system. This will prevent complications and delays. Delegating tasks to other staff will be based on Texas nursing laws, patient conditions, and staff skills. What You'll Do As a Procedural Registered Nurse, your main focus is to use careful clinical judgement. You'll assess patients and prioritize their needs. You'll also create and adjust care plans for better results. You will assess your nursing practices to ensure quality and effectiveness. This may involve tracking indicators, making changes based on research, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. You'll help teach patients and staff. Education will be integrated into care at all levels. In systems thinking, you will use strategies and resources to solve problems for patients, families, and staff. Finally, your professionalism enhances nursing practice and work environment. Contribute to decision-making, recognize others' contributions meaningfully. Building on the company’s leadership in the field of cellular metabolism, Agios is advancing a robust clinical pipeline of investigational medicines with active and planned programs in alpha- and beta-thalassemia, sickle cell disease, pediatric PK deficiency and MDS-associated anemia.   The impact you will make: The Patient Education Liaison/Clinical Educator (PEL/CNE) is responsible for establishing strong working relationships with patients and healthcare professionals. The PEL/CNE will utilize their professional skills and clinical experience to engage with health care providers to deliver disease state education, genetic testing information, and approved product messaging. The PEL/CNE will also gain insights from clinical teams and office staff supporting patients with chronic hemolytic anemias to further their understanding of the disease burden associated with hereditary anemias, related diagnostic challenges, and the types of support they need for their patients. The PEL/CNE also supports the patient centric business model by providing disease and product education to patients and families affected by genetic disease for which Agios provides a treatment option. Territory to include this major market: Texas and Louisiana (some very light travel to other Central US states) What you will do: The PEL/CNE will lead regional education and awareness efforts of disease state, inheritance, diagnostic and product information to patients and caregiver through in person interactions, patient and family meetings and patient education programs. Utilize approved messaging during in-service programs with healthcare professionals to raise disease state education and awareness of Thalassemia, PK Deficiency, and genetic testing options for the diagnosis of hereditary hemolytic anemias. Ensure success of in-service programs through collaborative partnerships with local sales representatives (Hemolytic Anemia Specialists) and Agios Patient Support Managers The PEL/CNE will pro-actively identify regional diseases state education initiatives. PEL/CNE will identify professional chapters and advocacy organizations in markets that have a need for disease state and branded education. PEL/CNE will provide quarterly and annual business plans and update their respective [Manager] and field colleagues weekly to ensure key stakeholder awareness and focus/teamwork is optimized Work and communicate cohesively with team members to meet needs and provide opportunities for process enhancement. Timely follow up on committed appointments and referrals to other health care professionals. Provides updates on activity to regional colleagues, ensuring that the regional team appropriately works as one entity to support patients. Ensure all activities are conducted in a manner that is compliant with industry mandated rules and regulations. What you bring: Registered Nurse, Advance Practice Provider, Genetic Counselor Hematology background preferred HCP education and/or clinical specialist background required Exceptional presentation, facilitation, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to connect with healthcare professionals in a trustworthy manner to encourage thorough responses Competent and comfortable utilizing technology including virtual platforms Ability to develop and maintain strong partnerships; ability to influence without direct authority Proven track record of working collaboratively and with flexibility in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment, while maintaining operational quality An innovative mindset and a proven ability to challenge the status quo Ability to think critically, strategically, and cross functionally Goal oriented, self-starter with a strong ability to self -manage Willingness to travel 50% of time Experience supporting rare diseases or hematology oncology preferred 1-2 years pharmaceutical experience preferred Ability to travel for work functions including ground and air transportation. Ensures operational practices are continually improved through the development, implementation and evaluation of continuous quality improvement initiatives. Ensures compliance with institutional, divisional and unit based policies and procedures as well as external regulatory requirements. Provides financial oversight to include supply inventory, equipment budget preparation and implementation. Ensures performance to annual budget by taking corrective action when appropriate or necessary. Develops, monitors and enforces productivity and performance standards.
