It is time to vote on our 2024 Board!

Please see the position statements for our nominees.

    Elizabeth Wade for President
Elizabeth has enjoyed her last two years as the Treasurer for CTONS and it has inspired her to seek the nomination for President to grow her leadership experience. She has worked in oncology for 6 years in Austin, from BMT inpatient to Medical Oncology and then Gynecology Oncology outpatient. If nominated, her goals are to engage members, foster community, and better our local oncology nurses through volunteer opportunities and networking events. She believes her problem-solving skills, ability to collaborate, and background as Treasurer qualify her for the President role.

    Kirsten Rederos for Vice President
Kirsten states oncology nursing has been a passion of hers since she started nursing. She has had the privilege of taking care of patents with a wide variety of diagnoses including solid tumors and hematologic malignancies in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She currently works in an educator role and loves being able to share the knowledge she has gained from being an active member of ONS with her fellow nurses. The oncology world is always growing and changing, and she is excited to use the leadership skills she has developed through her career to help bring awareness and education to our community.

    Lindsay Bazan for Programs Chair
Lindsay has been an oncology nurse for six years. She spent four years as a Gynecologic Oncology clinic nurse, and then transitioned to Clinical Research two years ago. She currently works in Clinical Research as a Senior Clinical Research Coordinator specializing in Phase II-IV clinical trials at Texas Oncology South Austin. She is interested in serving as Programs Chair for the Central Texas Chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society for the 2024 calendar year and has been an active member of CTONS since she started working in oncology in 2017. Previously, she served on the board for CTONS as Secretary from 2019-2021. She has enjoyed her time as a CTONS board member serving our wonderful community of oncology nurses. As Programs Chair, she would aspire to increase member participation at our monthly dinner programs and volunteer events by utilizing surveys and polls through our social media platform to help plan our events in locations that are convenient for our members, while observing the rotating schedule between North and South Austin locations. She would like to increase and incentivize participation so that our chapter can flourish and create a meaningful impact to our constituents. She will attempt innovative strategies to create member buy-in to accomplish this goal. She looks forward to meeting more members and creating an inviting and encouraging program that we can all take pride in.

    Kirsten Lerick for Social Chair

Kirsten has worked in oncology for the last 8 years as an inpatient nurse and in her current role as a Gynecology oncology nurse at Texas Oncology. Being an oncology nurse has helped her to develop the skills necessary to assess, manage and implement changes and structure in her daily practice. She is very detail oriented and believes that is essential for the membership/social chair of the ONS chapter. If nominated, she is willing to work hard, get members involved in our events, and help be a vital part of running the Central Texas ONS chapter.

    Lauren "Ashley" Hodnett for Treasurer
Ashley is seeking the role as treasurer for the ONS board. She is currently a gynecology oncology RN at Texas Oncology who is passionate about providing the best care possible for her patients. She would like to have a more active and involved role in ONS. She appreciates and agrees with the ONS mission, vision, and values. Providing excellent, quality patient centered care is what she strives to do, and she would like to be a part of the board to help contribute to the oncology nursing society. She has experience with responsibly handling money and was the head server and part time manager of a family-owned restaurant. She would perform the check-out of up to 8-10 employees every night and write their checks. This included writing checks for nightly tip out as well as writing biweekly hourly checks. She would perform the math for the delivery driver including the delivery fee, delivery tip and tip out for the packer for the delivery. She would also perform the tip out for servers and takeout staff by adding their in-house cash tip, credit card tips and third party service tips. She states she would use this knowledge to ensure that ONS funds are spent properly.
