The Oncology Nursing Foundation is recruiting volunteers to review the 2025 Research Grant applications for the following four (4) opportunities:
Emerging to mid-career oncology nurse researchers: $50,000 funding over 2 years
- RE03 General Topic
- RE34 Breast Cancer
Established oncology nurse researchers: $100,000 funding over 2 years
- RE33 General Topic
- RE26 Oral Chemotherapy Adherence
In order to be eligible to review, you must have a PhD and have successfully completed a research grant as a Principal Investigator.
The Oncology Nursing Foundation Research Grants support rigorous scientific oncology nursing research. Research projects may include investigator-initiated research, pilot or feasibility studies, supplements to currently-funded projects, or developing a new aspect of a program of research. Funding preference is given to projects that involve nurses in the design and conduct of the research activity and that promote theoretically-based oncology practice.

The application cycle timeline for these grants is as follows:
- Application Opens – February 15, 2025
- Letters of Intent (LOI) Due – May 16, 2025
- Full Proposals Due – June 28, 2025
- Funding Notification by – December 2025
Volunteers are asked to apply by April 15th, 2025. Eligible volunteers for this review will be notified by April 30th, 2025.
TIME COMMITMENT:
The Research Grant review period allows reviewers about one month to complete their assignments. Each reviewer will be assigned 2-3 applications, which can take from 3-5 hours each to complete. The overall time commitment anticipated for this review is approximately 10-12 hours.
Reviewers will also be required to attend a Reviewer Committee Conference Call via Zoom to discuss preliminary review scores and determine final scores for all applicants. This call is typically 2-hours long and will be scheduled via a Doodle Poll.

Please include your resume/CV in your application. The Chair and Foundation staff will work together to assign volunteers to review for the research grant opportunity that best fits the volunteers’ expertise. The Oncology Nursing Foundation may ask for additional information regarding your research history and/or expertise.
CHAIR NEEDED:
Please note in your application whether you are interested in serving as a Chair or Co-Chair for this Research Grant review cycle. In order to serve as Chair, you must have participated in an Oncology Nursing Foundation Research Grant review previously. The Chair will be responsible for reviewing LOI applications with the ONS Research Scholar in Residence and Co-Chair in May 2025.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Must have a PhD and have successfully completed a research grant as a Principal Investigator.
