The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) and the Oncology Nursing Foundation (ONF) invite volunteers to apply to serve on the ONS & ONF Experienced Oncology Nurse Advisory Panel.
The purpose of the Experienced Oncology Nurse Advisory Panel is to advise the ONS and ONF Boards and staff on topics concerning the needs of established oncology nurses. Key areas for panel advisement include: workforce challenges, professional development gaps, and solutions to sustain nursing excellence and retain experienced oncology nurses. Volunteers will provide focused feedback on specific questions to advise and make recommendations for consideration by ONS and ONF.
Volunteers may practice in any care setting, including inpatient or outpatient care, community or academic settings, administration, or education. Ideal volunteers will have ten or more (>10) years of oncology nursing experience and an interest in helping strengthen awareness, accessibility, and engagement across ONF and ONS.
TIME COMMITMENT:
Volunteers are expected to commit to attending 2 – 3 virtual meetings per year and actively participate in discussions. Pre-read materials and meeting objectives will be provided prior to each meeting. Estimated time commitment is approximately 12 hours per year. Standard term limits will be 1 – 2 years (2nd year upon invitation only).

Individuals do not have to hold membership to ONS to apply.
Applicants must currently work in oncology nursing and have ten or more years of oncology nursing experience.
Selected participants will have the following responsibilities for the duration of their term limit:
- Attend and actively participate in meetings.
- Complete assigned pre-work, including reviewing materials, surveys, and providing feedback by deadlines.
- Share consultative input and experience-based insights on designated topics, staying within the panel’s scope.
- Respond to occasional outreach between meetings as needed.

VOLUNTEER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for selection, you must meet all the following criteria:
- be currently licensed as an RN or APRN
- be currently working in oncology
- have ten years or more experience in oncology nursing
