The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) and the Oncology Nursing Foundation (ONF) invite volunteers to apply to serve on the ONS & ONF New Oncology Nurse Advisory Panel.
The purpose of the New Oncology Nurse Advisory Panel is to advise the ONS and ONF Boards and staff on topics concerning the needs of early-career oncology nurses. Key areas for panel advisement include: newer nurses’ awareness and access to ONF and ONS programs, resources and volunteer opportunities; early-career engagement and philanthropy; effective messaging and outreach for newer nurses; and strengthening the pipeline of oncology nurse leaders and donors. Volunteers will provide focused feedback on specific questions to advise and make recommendations for consideration by ONS and ONF.
Volunteers may practice in any care setting, ambulatory or inpatient, community or academic settings, administration, education, or research. Ideal volunteers will have five or less (<5) years of oncology nursing experience and an interest in helping strengthen awareness, accessibility, and engagement across ONF and ONS opportunities.
TIME COMMITMENT:
Volunteers are expected to commit to attending 2 – 3 virtual meetings per year and actively participate in discussions. Pre-read materials and meeting objectives will be provided prior to each meeting. Estimated time commitment is approximately 12 hours per year. Standard term limits will be 1 – 2 years (2nd year upon invitation only).

Individuals do not have to hold membership to ONS to apply.
VOLUNTEER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Volunteers will have five or less (<5) years of oncology nursing experience and an interest in helping strengthen awareness, accessibility, and engagement across ONF and ONS opportunities.
Selected participants will have the following responsibilities for the duration of their term limit:
- Attend and actively participate in meetings.
- Complete assigned pre-work, including reviewing materials, surveys, and providing feedback by deadlines.
- Respond to occasional outreach between meetings as needed.
