  • NCODA Internship Health Policy & Legislative Affairs

    NCODA is an international non-profit organization whose Mission is to empower the medically- integrated oncology team to deliver positive, patient-centered outcomes by providing leadership, expertise, quality standards and best practices.

    Since January 2021, NCODA has been actively involved in the legislative space. NCODA formed the Legislative & Policy Advisory Committee (LPAC) and has been at the forefront of educating our membership and the oncology community on legislative matters pertaining to oncology. In addition to making statements, having legislative discussions at events and hosting webinars focused on legislative initiatives and so much more, NCODA recently developed a Comprehensive State Legislation Tracker. The tracker is an all-encompassing guide to understanding how oncology legislation impacts the patient, practice and provider. It monitors legislation in all 50 states on a weekly basis, including PBM and copay accumulator legislation.


    Unique Responsibilities

    The NCODA Internship in Health Policy & Legislative Affairs will focus on:

    • Exploring, evaluating, and monitoring relevant health legislation in various states throughout the US
    • Updating the NCODA Comprehensive State Legislation Tracker on a regular basis
    • Collaborating with NCODA LPAC Liaison to identify key news related to statewide oncology legislative / policy issues
    • Researching new legislation / policy issues related to oncology an
    • Shadowing at - and providing summary notes for legislative meetings (both virtual and in person) as needed


    Expectations

    This internship opportunity is tailored to help support the needs and goals of NCODA’s Legislative & Policy Advisory Committee. The internship will draw on the organizational and analytical strengths of the intern. The intern is expected to follow NCODA’s policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook while interacting with any/all stakeholders during the internship.

    6 – 10 Hours / Week

     

    Location & Travel

    This position requires the intern to work remotely. The intern may be asked to travel on occasion during the internship program.

    Preferred Experiences

    • College degree or some college experience
    • Area(s) of study: political science, law, history, public policy, or communications
    • Interest in the legislative process and how it impacts healthcare, specifically patients, providers, and practices
