Hello Dallas ONS Members!

It’s time to nominate your colleagues for the prestigious Dallas ONS Founders’ Award. This annual award was established in 1987 to honor the dedication and impact of the chapter’s founding oncology nurses. This award recognizes a member who exemplifies professionalism and passion in oncology nursing.

Eligible nominees must be oncology nurses working in any area of practice and active members of the Dallas ONS Chapter. Judging criteria is based on three key areas:

1.      Role Modeling

2.      Advocacy

3.      Community Activity

Nominations may be submitted individually or as a group of nurses, even from different practices. To keep the process a surprise, please do not inform the nominee.

To nominate, complete the form below and provide an essay (approximately 800-1000 words) detailing how the candidate fulfills the criteria.

·         Describe their involvement in Dallas ONS (eg. board positions, committee membership)

·         Mention any national ONS activities such as poster or oral presentations

·         Explain how this nurse serves as a role model or mentor

·         Highlight the nominee’s community contributions, oncology-related or otherwise

The essay should clearly illustrate how the nominee embodies these qualities, including specific examples and, if possible, a quote from a colleague. Also, mention any relevant awards or leadership roles they’ve held in oncology nursing or community activities.

Nominations remain confidential and are reviewed by previous Founders’ Award recipients. The awardee will be announced at the Dallas ONS January Dinner. Please submit your application and essay to Katie Bukolt at katherine.bukolt@usoncology.com no later than Friday 12/11/2025.
