  • 1.  Cancer Basics - Now Available in Spanish!

    I wanted to share some exciting news that ONS recently launched the popular Cancer Basics course in Spanish! 
    This is a great resource for any Spanish-speaking nurses who would prefer to take the course in Spanish, or for perhaps someone on your team.

    As a reminder, course topics covered include:
    • Characteristics of cancer and cancer cells
    • Key concepts in the genomic basis of cancer
    • Cancer risk, screening, prevention, and diagnosis
    • Cancer treatment modalities and their common side effects

    • Recommendations for patient and family education
    • Clinical trials and their role in cancer research
    • Supporting cancer survivors
    • Ethical considerations in cancer care
    This could also be considered for a non-oncology nurse.

    Good Morning Nicole!
    Great News about Cancer Basics now offered in Spanish! I had the pleasure of working on Cancer Basics as an author and presenter (the first edition, prior to internet circa 2001) when we actually traveled to sites and gave the course!
    It has evolved over the years and is an invaluable resource indeed.

    As a member of the ASCO International Education Steering Group (IESG) I will definitely share this news.
    This resource will be welcomed locally, regionally, nationally and indeed globally!

    Thank you for sharing ONSs commitment to oncology nursing across all practice settings.
