Lab & dressing change appointments

    Hi All,
I am looking at my center's practices for central line lab draw and dressing change appointments. Do your centers have designated areas for central line lab draws and dressing changes? What is the appointment length of these areas? On average, how many patients would a nurse in that area see in day?
Thank you in advance for your thoughts!
    Best,
    Nikki

    Hi Nikki
We have a specimen collection department in our ambulatory center. They are mainly staffed with LPNs, a couple of RNs and a few phlebotomists. They perform draws for almost all of our patients (some exceptions include our CAR-T cell program which operates differently). They also include afternoon appointments for PICC dressing changes. The majority of our patients with tunneled catheters (e.g. Hickman) are taught to do them at home since they are not considered a sterile procedure.
