Good Day to You:
We have just compiled skin care guidelines for using Thiotepa. My question for the group is what gloves you are using for general patient care such as linen changes, clothing, and patient contact. Are you using standard gloves for this or do you continue to use the gloves specifically tested to protect against Thiotepa breakthrough. The only reference I have found thus far is to use standard precautions.

Our normal exam gloves, FitGuard Select Gloves, were not rated for use with Carmustine and Thiotepa. Most gloves will have this information on the back of the box or on the manufacturer website. We found SafeSkin Purple Nitrile-Xtra Powder-Free Exam Gloves were rated for use with Carmustine and Thiotepa (See below information from the manufacturer.) Hope this helps!
