Hello everyone. How does your facility teach then test hands-on chemo administration for newly certified chemo nurses? We have a SIM lab that we can use but getting the necessary OOS time for the nurses has been an issue. I look forward to your replies. Thank you. Mary

    Good morning,
At my site after the inpatient nurse has obtained a chemo provider card time is scheduled for a day in the infusion center.  There is a much higher volume of chemo in the infusion center. We require 3 supervised drug administrations to be " chemo competent"

Hello. Our new nurses also spend time in the outpatient infusion center but they deliver chemo differently than we do in-house so that just adds to their confusion. I am the Nurse Educator on my unit and I am researching a
better way for inpatient. Thank you for responding.

Would also like to know how/where new(or even old) nurses can learn about handling chemo and infusions.  Especially me, who works primarily alone, and could develop habits that are not as they should be.

ONS provides information but I am not aware of any suggestions for hands-on education. ONS, thoughts please.
