The CCONS Advocacy Committee is an officially approved board committee that keeps members updated on legislation affecting oncology nurses and their patients. Oncology nurses are encouraged to participate in local, state, and national healthcare policy initiatives. The committee collaborates with other nursing organizations in Ohio and ONS regarding their legislative agendas and concerns. By hosting the Ohio Oncology Nurses at the Statehouse event, the Advocacy Committee enables oncology nurses to engage in state and local initiatives that promote issues relating to cancer patients' safe and effective care. The committee cultivates relationships with the Ohio Nurses Association and partners with other professional organizations to address legislative and practice issues.
