    Current Status of Bills Related to the NLAC Agenda

    Legislators have filed the following bills related to the Nursing Legislative Action Coalition agenda for the 2021 legislative session.  Nurses are encouraged to contact their legislators to support these bills.  The full practice NP bill is still in review by the Legislative Council which drafts all bills.

     

    HB 1384                                              Thierry, Shawn(D)      Relating to required suicide prevention training for certain health care practitioners.

    General Remarks: This bill would require physicians, nurses, PT/OTs, CDCs, LPs, LPAs, LSSPs, LPCs, LMSWs, and LMFTs to complete one hour of suicide prevention training.

    Relating to the expansion of broadband services to certain areas.

    General Remarks:

    This bill would create a broadband development office within the comptroller's office. The office would be charged with developing a map to display areas with and without broadband and the number of service providers in each area. Finally, the bill would create an account that can be used for awards grants, low-interest loans, and other financial incentives to expand access to broadband.
